The big summit in Paris to address the issue of clean cooking in Africa

Addressing the urgent issue of clean cooking access for over a billion people in Africa, the landmark Summit on Clean Cooking convened in Paris, uniting leaders from nearly 60 countries, alongside numerous companies and development institutions.

In the inaugural note, President Samia Suluhu Hassan emphasised the urgency, stating, 'More than 900 million people in Africa still cook on firewood and charcoal, not having access to modern cooking energy. With indoor air pollution being the prime cause of premature deaths of women and children, it is high time for increased investments and partnerships.'

During the event, a declaration endorsed by over 100 countries, international institutions, companies, and civil society organisations pledged to make clean cooking a global priority.
