As many of you know, cooking directly over an open wood fire is highly inefficient — with heat exposed to the air, at least 60% of the energy is lost. People began using stone enclosures to retain some of that heat, but those designs often prevent fuel from burning completely. The real innovation in improved cookstoves is combining heat retention with controlled secondary air supply so the fuel burns more completely: the result is higher thermal efficiency, lower emissions, reduced fuel use, and a more economical, durable solution.
If you’re working on household energy, clean-cooking programs, or stove design and want to explore this further, please reach out — I’d be glad to discuss details and potential collaboration
